Discrete distributions, expected value and variance

Supplemental status
Expected value and variance appear in the older probability material but are not explicit in the current course outline.
For a discrete random variable, E[X] = Σ xP(X=x). Variance can be calculated as E[X²] - E[X]². The lab keeps probabilities as exact rational numbers so rounding does not change whether they sum to 1.
